she's sitting on the bunk beds in the cabin! she's actually - pinning a flag to the wall. it's a black flag, with a wonky pink and orange sunset and a very poorly drawn shark over the top of the sunset. it's also just splattered with pink paint along the edges.
instinctively she glances over her shoulder at him, and he gets to see a lot of eyes. thankfully she seems to remember that this is the case and immediately dips her head down so ace's hat covers it, but. y'know.]

[things were. in fact very complicated with danny.]
[ frankly after everything he saw yesterday she can have as many eyes as she wants to and he's not going to flinch. even if it does remind him a little bit of that time he almost got eaten. ]

...Yeah. [ kind of like he already knew that was exactly what she'd said. ] Can't blame you for reacting that way, though. People can say mean stuff when they're hurt, and he hurt you pretty bad. It takes a while to cool down from that.
Looked like you were makin' an effort to reach out last night at the beach, though.

in a funny way it feels kind of nice to have someone tell her that he hurt her pretty bad. she's felt hurt. she's just been struggling with whether or not she's allowed to feel that way.]
... He didn't want to be alone. [and god does she fucking relate to that, so bad.] He was told. I can't be mad.
But I - but we didn't... [she just trails off, almost frustrated.] Datz, before I was here, I didn't have anything like you guys. At all. I didn't have you, or anybody like Ace or Reigen. Before I got here I was on my way to die.
[she says, quietly. she rubs at her face again, with a little sniff, and exhales heavily.]
It happens a lot. [i can't remember if i ever gave you the memory that gives context for this but it's fine] I was so sick of it happening that I thought about just killing someone to get put on trial. Not even be sneaky about it.
[she didn't, though. obviously she didn't, and it's because the rest of their little ragtag team offered their hands out to her.]
