There is a fine art to understanding the psyche of other people. Violence as a coercive tactic works on some. To others, it is merely a reason to beget more violence. Hanako is the latter.

Well, clearly nothing else anyone's been doing has been working. And I'm tired of letting the little hellion run free killing whoever he wants without an ounce of consequence.
You say that as if anyone's had the chance to do so.
[ the dead have been back for like five minutes danny ]
And besides: the reason you were attacked had nothing to do with the crime that you committed. Must we go through this cycle again? Are you not tired of cycles?
I meant in general, the whole two months we've been here.
[ there's a bit of a pang at "are you not tired of cycles" but he quickly shoves it aside ]
What I'm tired of is getting thrown around like the universe's plaything and not being able to do anything about it. Why am I supposed to just take it like it's a harmless little prank? What makes him so special that he's exempt from all of it?
Don't be dramatic. No one said that you're supposed to take it that way.
[ :/
also good. feel that pang! FEEL IT. HE SAID IT ON PURPOSE. ]
Remember that those of us on the living side have not been as privy to who did what. I've only confronted Hanako about what he's done as of Sunday; I had my own theories, but I don't like to make baseless accusations.
I'll reiterate. Nothing you do to make him "fear the consequences" will actually make him fear the consequences, because that is not the kind of person that he is. It will solve nothing. It will potentially just end in more violence, and cause more problems. The bridges you thought that you burned were not taken to ashes, and instead tentatively offered forward. What logic is there in setting them aflame again?
I'm not going to burn any of those bridges. But he's the one who burnt down the one between us in the first place. I was happy to assume a truce with him, and then he went and killed me anyway. Why am I meant to assume responsibility for that?
Besides, if there's no bridge to burn, then it's really just...kicking the ashes he made back into his face.
We're not saying you have to take any responsibility at all for what happened between you two, 'cause obviously that was on him and not you. We're just saying don't do anything that'd make things messier now, which is... most things you could to do him, probably.
DF, man, I feel for you, and I told him how wrong this was and how upset I was about it, and you are absolutely justified in hating him.
But there's a lot more to him that he just isn't gonna show you. Like, yeah, he's way too knife-happy in the first place, but at least part of what he was doing was outta some really misguided sense that he was gonna help people, 'cause losing two members of our team in the first two weeks messed him up pretty bad — it did all of us. He should face some consequences, but when the consequence is execution, I was never gonna let that happen, and I'm still gonna defend that kid with my life.
[ there are like, entirely too many emotions here — guilt and frustration and protectiveness and just really loving this damn kid in spite of everything ]
[ haha sorry datz but all those emotions just sour danny's until there's nothing but disgust coming off of him. ]
I don't care if there's "more to him" or if he thought he was gonna "help people." I don't even care if you wanted to keep him from getting executed, but saying "he should face consequences" and then doing nothing to make it happen isn't exactly any better than anyone else who lets him get away with everything!
Yeah, well, there aren't a lot of great options for that in this stupid place. Don't forget we let you get away with it too — and that was when we didn't know everyone would be coming back, even.
The only consequence we made you face was admitting the truth to your friends, and we did the same to him.
[ temenos nods to this, giving off the emotion of well said. ]
Precisely that. You don't have to care about his motives. But what you ought to care about is that you also chose to attack someone. We went out of our way to protect you - your subsequent attack was not a direct consequence of your actions against Reigen - and it would hardly be fair if we allowed you to retaliate against Hanako.

Perhaps consider just ignoring him entirely.
