[ It doesn't go through, not this time. The shoulder Datz's hands rest on tenses a little at the touch, but relaxes almost immediately after, leaning into the touch. ]
Ryuki and Rita more than me. I'm even more worried about him now.
[ None of them have, but Ryuki... Ryuki's responsible, and he cares, and that makes it so much harder on him than for Hanako, who is very selective in the people he cares about. ]
Did you find out what happened last week, when he forgot about Chiemi's trial? If that was a wonderball...
Tama didn't wanna get into his personal stuff with me, which is fair... but she said it wasn't the first time he'd gotten mixed up about time like that. That he had problems like that sometimes back in their world too.
Well... sometimes, probably so. Like, I think it's hard for him when he sees you hurt someone, because he cares a lot about protecting everybody, and he feels bad about himself when he can't do that.
But I'm sure you help him too. You're real bright and fun, so it's hard to feel down when you're around. And I think he can tell that you care about him a lot, which is something he needs.
[ He's pretty sure he's the one getting beat up a lot more than he's been able to successfully hurt anybody, but stab threats are basically all Ryuki sees from him, huh... It'd be a lot easier if Ryuki didn't care about everybody, but he can't expect everybody to be as selective as he is either.
The solution, obviously, is to make death threats only when Ryuki isn't around.
He'll have to think about it, what he can do for Ryuki— and for Datz too. But for now, he's just glad (relieved) to hear he's helping in any sort of way. ]
[ He hesitates, because he really really does not want to. But it's Datz, and considering what he and Ryuki put him through, it kind of feels like he owes it to him. ]
Oh! We found this while we were out there! Take a look—
[ He produces a sweaty crumpled up newspaper clipping, flattening it out before he shows it to Datz. It reads:
"Yesterday was the deadly attack from the moon. The moon has shown its destructive power. The reason why has not been explored. The past month it was slowly lowering day by day. The night began with the full moon dropping from the night sky, quickly transitioning into attacking everything within its area with lasers and earthquakes.
A white haired man was spotted at the scene, but there have been no reports of him since yesterday night. The heroes of the city were able to force the moon to retreat, at the cost of several of their lives. We take this moment to thank them for their sacrifice. At the moment, it is unknown if this was something that will repeat every full moon. Dread hangs heavy in the air as the city remains uncertain about what is to come.
The damages from the battle are extensive. It will take several months before everything is repaired. The prinnies are being used as part of the labor force in order to restore the city to its former prime. Repairs are set to begin at the town center."
Have you heard anything about a white haired man? A while back I'd asked Mouse what they remembered about that moon attack, and they said the person responsible was dressed in fancy white clothing, and a top hat. [ not that it matters, when life isn't anime where everybody wears one outfit forever ] And their powers had to do with lasers.
Yeah, I asked Goldie about that a while ago too. Said it was a guy in all white who appeared out of nowhere and disappeared after he killed those other four heroes from before, and that they never knew who he was.
They also said all their bodies just vanished right after... same as what we've been seeing here at the ends of executions, and what happens to the bodies of the victims after the trials are over. So we were thinkin' there's some kind of a connection there.

[ he'll come over and kind of sit on the edge of the bed if allowed. ]
You feelin' OK?

Hanako rolls over on the bed at the question, curling in on himself a little to make room for Datz and/or just to turtle himself a little. ]
There's just a lot to think about, that's all. ... Me and Ryuki really worried you, huh? Sorry.

[ he reaches to touch his shoulder, a little anxious that his hand's going to go right through again. ]
Sounds like you both went through a lot.

Ryuki and Rita more than me. I'm even more worried about him now.
[ What about Rita? ehh. ]

...Yeah, I'm worried about him too. He was already havin' a hard enough time before this. The guy really hasn't gotten a break in a while.

Did you find out what happened last week, when he forgot about Chiemi's trial? If that was a wonderball...
[ he's going to murder and Datz can't stop him ]

Is he going to be okay...? Tama knows how to help him through it, doesn't she?
no subject
I think she's just doing the same thing as us, for the most part — just trying to be there for him and support him and keep him grounded, y'know?

What's up?

I cause more stress for Ryuki than help, don't I?
[ does he even need to ask ]

Sure thing, kiddo.
[ after a moment: ]
You wanna talk about what happened in that place?

[ he reads this over...
...you can just kind of see him mouthing "lasers???" in confusion, and squinting at it the rest of the way through. ]
