...Well. There's a lot we never figured out. At least we were coming up with a couple of ideas about who could've killed Foxy, but I don't think we even got that far with Satan. Never even figured out what could've crushed him like that.
[ A bit of miscommunication, some bad timing, getting sidetracked, this and that. Accusations flew today, and it makes Ryuki feel rotten, like they really are heading towards a track of getting more witchhunt-y as the weeks go on. ]
I... didn't really like Hans. [ For being a bit of a chaos goblin and also trying to set civilians on fire this week. ] But even still, I don't think he deserves to get executed for a crime he didn't actually commit.
I thought he was kinda fun sometimes, but he was comin' off as sort of a sleazebag during that trial today, and I can't say that didn't influence my decision a little.
[ yeah the rating thing was a curse, but "a 17 in a few years"? blech. ]
But no, I don't think he deserves this either.
[ feels kind of shitty that they tried so hard to break mika out of jail when they thought she didn't deserve it and aren't making any effort at all for a guy who legitimately didn't do anything, but they also already learned how difficult it would be to pull that off, and all of them spending another weekend in jail isn't going to do anyone any good either.
he doesn't say anything else for a moment, though it kind of looks like he wants to. finally— ]
...Did you vote for Taky? Reigen, I mean. If you don't wanna say, that's fine.
[ Tbh I always have to remind myself it's called the Harbinger. I just call it the Addy. ]
Don't you think they're getting a little crazy on the papers? Hard to imagine anyone would reasonably allow that kind of stuff to be published, and I thought I'd read some inflammatory publications. Working in the legal sector does mean you see some nasty stuff here and there.
[ yeah i also had a moment there where i was like "who is this harbinger guy we can do audiences with" ]
...Well, come to think of it, some of those answers were pretty off the rails this week, yeah.
[ he doesn't religiously read the advice column, but even a quick look at it this week made that pretty obvious... though he'd just figured addy was having a bad week and didn't think too hard about the publishing part of it. ]
And frankly I've always had questions about how they're gettin' all the photos they're publishing... or where they're gettin' their info about the deaths for those Friday editions. I mean, they reported Emi's death before we ever even found her body.
You'd be surprised by how tenacious journalists get. Some of them are ambitious enough to actively lie and just barely skirt under the law for the sake of their scoop.
[ Writes off Chiemi's body announcement as this because it's game but the explanation probably makes sense. ]
But taking extreme action behind the scenes doesn't usually translate to getting like that on the actual papers. There were unfinished sentences and everything.
Huh. Well, I guess maybe that part makes sense, then...
[ it is completely legit oocly but his home newspaper is not big on investigative journalism so he will continue to be skeptical!!! who are you, prinny photography guild!!!!! ]
But yeah, you'd usually have an editor makin' sure stuff didn't go out like that, right?
[ The prinnies, they have unimaginable power and the will to journal. ]
Yyyyyyes, I'd think so. So either the Harbinger is a team of some pretty petty people who brand themselves on negative, inflammatory press, or... it could just be one unchecked person with a lot of power.
Either way, the writers clearly can get into places we can't, so.
w2, post-trial
Hey.
[ ...takes a deep breath and sighs. ]
Sorry. I really blew it.

W-what? No you didn't.
no subject
Yeah, I did. I told ya we'd figure it out and we didn't. And I still voted for double H after I had real good reason to think it wasn't him anymore.
no subject
[ He didn't vote Hans but, he could see why under pressure, people would. ]
I never figured out what was that weird substance in the perfume.

No, I voted for someone completely unrelated who I thought had a low chance of having the majority.
[ He would've just self-voted if the system let him. ]
no subject
That was probably a good move.
Stinks that the thing doesn't let you vote for yourself, huh? Forcin' someone else's fate into our hands no matter what.
no subject
Did you try it too?

[ mika. ]
Must've tried it half a dozen times before I accepted that it was never gonna let me.

I also tried again after that but it just wouldn't accept it.

The Harbinger rejected my request for audience.

[ it just keeps getting more blatant and less tolerable.

Oh, the... paper. Right. They were pretty rude about it too, huh?
[ kurto... ]
...Well, even if they turned ya down, it wasn't a bad idea at all, and it's good that you took the initiative to try it.
