Ooh, let's see... It's a really small, really religious kingdom up in the Himalayas. Got some tall mountain peaks that go all the way up into the clouds where it gets super cold sometimes. Most people still wear traditional clothes, and both those and the buildings and stuff tend to be really colorful.
For most of its history it didn't have a lot of outside influence, and lots of the stuff that did make it there was already kinda outdated, tech-wise. So we've got cell phones, but they're mostly old flip phones, and we've got TV, but only one channel. Tourism's gotten big there in recent years, though, so it's already changing some.

I have to admit I grew up on new stuff where it was available, sort of. I remember playing on my parents' flip phone when I was a kid though! I liked the games they had on it.

But yeah, it's always had a reputation as a nice, peaceful place. The rulers there have this special ability to channel the spirits of the dead and would it do for the governments of other other nearby countries when asked, so it's been a really useful diplomacy tool. Don't even have a military 'cause no one's ever tried to invade. Made it pretty appealing to folks in neighboring countries who had enough of army life.
Something like that? It was like, one of those puzzles where you have to swap pieces so you get three in a row, so you can get rid of them. Except the pieces were animals.

Yep, just like that! It probably sounds pretty farfetched to outsiders, but it's legit. It's wild, they actually take on the appearance of the person they're channeling and everything.
I know someone who recently got into all that psychic stuff... I'll be honest, most of it does sound phony, but a lead is a lead where I can get it. And it isn't like it made me waste more time than if I'd just ran around blindly on my own.

Pretty much. There's a special magatama you gotta use to force the spirit out and back to the Twilight Realm if they aren't leavin' on their own.

It's useful, yeah, but still requires some interpretation, and it's not impossible for either the killer or victim to manipulate what that final scene looks like. That's one of the big problems with the courts under the DC Act — what the priestess and prosecution say the vision means gets taken as the absolute truth without even looking at other evidence.

That's interesting though, that it's a big enough thing that it's regularly considered in your laws... I think it'd just get thrown out as evidence in ours.
