memory - fishing trip
[ You've gotten the last of the fishing gear together, all piled up beside you and ready to go... and with that done, you brush off your hands and go to dig out the camera.
AJ's chasing Yuty along the riverbank like the cute little hellion he is as Yuty laughs with excitement. Dhurke stands back and watches them both with a big grin on his face and a hearty laugh of his own, though he does point out that they're going to tire themselves out before they ever even pick up their fishing rods at this rate. You get a little stealth candid shot of this, because it's adorable... then you raise your voice, holding up the camera. ]
C'mere, guys, let's get you a nice family photo, huh? It's a big day, ya gotta commemorate it!
[ The truth is it barely even counts as a trip when the mountain shack you've all called home for a while (a real home for them and an honorary one for you, as much time as you spend here) is already right there on the river and all you're doing is hiking a little further downstream.
But it's a big, exciting journey to a couple of little kids, and you've promised them that this time they're going to get to try their own hands at fishing instead of just watching you and their dad have all the fun (though you can already predict how bored they're going to say they are after a few minutes without a bite).
The kids slow down their mad dash and jog over to you, with Dhurke following behind. ]
You're gonna get one of us with our fish after too, right?!
Of course! Before and after shots, how 'bout it?
Yeah!
All right, then, let's do it! AJ, Yuty, stand here in front, and Dhurke, you get in the middle. [ ... ] Mmmm, little over to your left so I can get more of the river in there.
[ They all shuffle over a few steps, then you stop them with a thumbs up. ]
Perfect! Now, on the count of three, OK? Everyone smile big!
[ Things are pretty rough for Dhurke these days as his reputation as a queen-killing villain keeps gaining traction; he got pelted with so many vegetables last time he went into town that he came back with enough for a family veggie hot pot night. He laughed it off like he always does, and you laughed too, like you always do.
The truth is, it makes you really mad sometimes seeing him get treated like that by a bunch of strangers who don't know anything when the real Dhurke is the one you're seeing right here through your viewfinder — a cheerful, laid-back guy who just wants to take his kids fishing and watch them have a good time.
For the moment, though, all the bad stuff doesn't matter. This is just a fun day out with his family (and his right-hand man), like things are supposed to be. They all smile, and you can't help doing the same. ]
One... two... three!
