[ yeah lmao i wasn't thinking that when i typed it but when i looked back at it afterward i was like oh that's the one ]
Yep! I mean, this was almost 20 years ago, so none of 'em really look like that anymore — Dhurke's got really long hair and a cool eyepatch now — and stuff got kinda complicated with the kids for different reasons, but.
Mmm... well, AJ was Dhurke's adopted son, and when things started getting more dangerous for the rebels, he took him back to the country he was born in. Khura'in's got this really deeply ingrained idea that kids bear the sins of their parents, so with everyone looking at Dhurke as this big bad villain, it would've been really rough on him if he'd stayed — like it was on Yuty.
Always intended to go back and get him once the revolution succeeded, but... well, that's been a lot slower going than we expected.
[ 16 years later... ]
We just reunited with him a few days before I ended up here, though! He grew up to be a great defense attorney in his country just like his old man. We couldn't be prouder of him.
Yuty...
[ frowns, this one is a different kind of complicated. ]
He became a prosecutor instead, to try to revolutionize the system from the inside. Didn't quite work out that way, though; he's been doing the regime's bidding for years now. Figure Ga'ran's gotta have something she's holding over his head to keep him in line, but he's never wanted to talk to any of us about it. From where he stands, we're the enemy now.
... Jeeze. [a beat.] I guess - yeah. It's hard to do stuff from the inside like that. They're always a step ahead of you. They always know how to hold up a lie better, and the worst part is people don't even believe you when you have proof.
Did Dhurke actually do a crime? Or did he get framed or something?
[ LMFAO YEAH surprise datz is like, apollo's unofficial uncle or stepdad or something, that is the only twist i've got this time and it means nothing to any character in this game.
i think the funniest thing is that apollo looks so much more related to dhurke than nahyuta does, my roommate and i kept waiting for the twist that he actually was his biological father and that was not the case. ]
The latter — they framed him for the assassination of the previous queen. Said they found his prints on the lighter they found at the scene after the royal residence burned down, but that was all a load of crap.
[HELP that's so funny i love that it went from "actually i'm mean" to "surprise i'm the main character's uncle"
she looks interested in this, though, which. might be kind of an inappropriate reaction but at least she'll explain.]
... My old Boss got framed for killing the queen too. The lady in charge of the royal guard screwed with his sword when he was about to be knighted and he killed her with it accidentally.
Yeah. We've put together this whole file on all the details of the case and everything, but...
[ shakes his head ]
Actually, the day I came here... he was going to be tried in court the next day, for both the murder of the minister of justice and the assassination from 23 years ago. AJ was gonna be defending him and Yuty was the prosecutor.
[ why would they let someone prosecute his own father, who knows, it's AA ]

Right? I mean - it's... a long story, but what are the odds? You're still trying to get his name cleared?
